The Prevalence of Depression and Its Association With Quality of Life Among Pregnant and Postnatal Women in China: A Multicenter Study

Background: This study examined the prevalence of depressive symptoms (depression hereafter) and its association with quality life (QOL) among pregnant postnatal women in China. Methods: In this multi-center, cross-sectional study, 1,060 from eight hospitals were assessed. Depression QOL measured using Edinburgh Postnatal Scale World Health Organization Quality Life Questionnaire - brief version, respectively. Results: The depression was 7.45% (95% CI: 5.87–9.04%) sample. Women had lower physical, psychological, social environmental domains compared to those without. physical comorbidities more likely suffer (OR = 2.391, 95% CI 1.384–4.130, P 0.002). Conclusion: Due negative QOL, increased attention should be paid women. Regular screening assessment preventive measures adopted reduce risk population.
